2025 was the most active year for London private equity partner movement since Macrae began tracking the market, with 50 moves recorded: nearly double 2024's total of 28.

The surge reflects a meaningful broadening of how talent enters the partnership: external promotions and in-house transitions now account for a third of all moves, up from just 11% in 2024. Gender diversity has also improved significantly, with women representing 30% of movers - the highest proportion in five years and a sharp reversal from 2024's low of 7%. Most strikingly, UK firms are outpacing US firms on net growth for the first time in this tracking period, with both The Lawyer 15 and The Lawyer 16–50 posting net positive results simultaneously. Goodwin and White & Case lead the market with four additions each, reinforcing that London's PE market is no longer a US-platform story.
