Revenue Per Lawyer Rankings: The US Firms Outpacing the Pack
Law.com International’s new analysis of revenue per lawyer (RPL) in the UK legal market shows a striking trend: US-headquartered firms continue to lead the pack by a significant margin.
Paul, Weiss has surged to the top of the RPL rankings, closely followed by Simpson Thacher and Kirkland & Ellis - highlighting the profitability and efficiency of US firms operating in London. The data paints a clearer picture of just how wide the gap has become between US and UK firms when it comes to revenue generated per lawyer.
Siobhán Lewington, a Partner in our London office, who advises top firms on partner hiring and strategy in the London market, shared insights with Law.com on how UK -founded firms are responding:
“We are seeing that UK-headquartered firms are continuing their focus on growth and hiring so they don’t lose market share. They’ve become more flexible, especially with the introduction of this non-equity layer - which allows firms to retain and attract talent.”
With only two UK-headquartered firms breaking into the top 10 by RPL, the data underscores the growing pressure on traditional firms to adapt if they want to remain competitive.
