Scale, Connectivity and the ‘Global Elite’
The Lawyer’s first-ever Global Elite report has identified six firms - Freshfields, Gibson Dunn, Kirkland & Ellis, Latham & Watkins, Paul Weiss, and Simpson Thacher - as leading the transatlantic private capital-led deals market across partner hires, promotions, and profit margin.
In a follow-up article exploring the drivers behind this success, our Global Practice Leader and Chair, Melinda Wallman, highlighted the importance of scale and connectivity on both sides of the Atlantic: “Private capital has become a world unto itself and firms need a deep bench of high-quality private capital lawyers on both sides of the Atlantic. Those with both scale and connectivity are winning and will go on to be successful over the next decade. And it doesn’t matter if they’re from the US, UK, London or New York.”
The conversation also examined the less tangible factors - from clarity of vision to market perception - that can help define a firm’s “elite” status.
