Alston & Bird Remains Well-Positioned After Cadwalader Merger Talks End
Above the Law recently covered the aftermath of Alston & Bird's merger discussions with Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft, which concluded when Cadwalader instead announced plans to combine with Hogan Lovells in what is believed to be the largest law firm merger in history.
Jon Truster, a partner at Macrae, told Above the Law that Alston & Bird's position remains strong despite the conclusion of merger talks. "The firm's fine, I don't view this as the firm being jilted or left at the altar or anything like that," Truster said.
He noted that Alston has grown its New York headcount to approximately 200 lawyers, positioning the firm to continue strategic expansion. "The right large group of lawyers would be very appealing to Alston and any other firm in New York of that size," Truster added.
Alston's strong financial performance and strategic market positioning suggest the firm will continue to pursue growth opportunities that align with its culture and long-term objectives.
