Law360: Private Capital Spurs London Real Estate Partner Hiring

A recent Law360 article by Marialuisa Taddia looks at the rise in real estate partner hiring in London, as firms build out their private capital practices. The strongest demand is for corporate real estate and real estate finance partners, particularly those with private equity and wider private capital connections.

Data from Atlas by Codex Edge cited in the piece shows 84 London lateral partner moves in real estate finance between August 2025 and July 2026, up from 44 in the same period five years earlier. Corporate real estate recorded 43 moves, compared with 17 over the same comparison period. Partners can be counted in more than one specialism, so the categories may overlap.

Siobhán Lewington, Macrae London’s Office Managing Partner, comments in the piece on the strength of the market:

"We're still in the upward part of the cycle. We haven't seen interest in real estate hiring abate."

She links the activity to the influx of private capital, with firms looking for practices that can advise investors on assets such as data centers, student accommodation and care homes. She also notes that US firms with strong real estate practices are expanding in London, increasingly by hiring entire teams. The article adds that activity is more mixed across the wider commercial property market, where the mix of firms making hires differs.
