Strategic Transatlantic Growth in Focus Following McDermott-Schulte Merger
As leading firms continue to prioritize cross-border strength in key financial centers, the merger of McDermott Will & Emery and Schulte Roth & Zabel underscores the importance of dual investment in both New York and London.
In Bloomberg Law’s coverage of the merger, our New York based Managing Director Stephanie Ruiter noted that the combination reflects a growing trend in lateral partner hiring: “Strength in both New York and London is becoming more essential for top firms. It’s one of the things more partners are asking for in their lateral movements - especially with those financial services-based practices.”
The combined firm, to be known as McDermott Will & Schulte, will include more than 1,750 lawyers across 20+ offices, including over 100 UK-based attorneys. Its London office alone is on track to reach $120 million in revenue this year, with leadership citing private equity, M&A, finance, and restructuring as key areas of transatlantic focus.
